Our Vision

"To be a regional class centre of excellence in technical education and research, responsive to changing global needs with emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurial and leadership competencies, professional and human values, technological development and social-economic upliftment of community."

Thika Institute of Technology is located within Thika town. Thika is a highly industrialised town that offers opportunities and training linkages with industries. The main campus is strategically located a few metres from town centre (near Kenya National Library Services and Thika General Hospital) to provide conducive learning environment and give students easy access to these facilities. The main campus houses ultra-modern medical school, administration office, and recreational facilities. This campus caters for technological course such as pharmacy and medical laboratory technology.

The Institute enjoys ten years of association with development agencies from which the institute borrowed its original plan for the current establishment. Currently, it is the biggest private training institution in the larger Central Province and probably the only one with the greatest outreach in various parts of the country.

The Institute is registered with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. It is also an accredited and approved centre of University of Nairobi, Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), ABE-UK, ICM-UK, ABMA-UK and KASNEB. We are constantly reviewing and upgrading our training modules in order to keep pace with the dynamic modern technology. Recently the institute has updated its curriculum by including pharmacy and medical laboratory technology training.

The Institute offers both full time and part-time studies at competitive rates adjusting such rates according to the needs of students. The Institute provides professional education in applied sciences and management/human resource development. We have liberal programmes of courses which seek to develop literacy, abstract, logical and critical analysis and fostering scientific, technological and social innovations.

The Institute is committed towards academic excellence. It is acknowledged for its quality education and has churned out competent and confident professionals. The institute admits students with demonstrated desire to learn and recruits staff who possess unique ability to teach in a seminar atmosphere. The institute provides a positive learning environment and seeks a holistic development of its students thus building a solid education foundation and personal growth. Our trainees have opportunities of pursuing degree courses after graduating from the Institute.

Thika Institute of Technology demonstrated high academic performance in the year 2002 and received an outstanding award in Information Technology (IT) from the Association of Business Executives, ABE-UK, presided over by the British High Commissioner of Kenya, Sir Edward Clay.
